Perth β A woman faces criminal charges following an alleged poisoning incident involving a shared workplace curry contaminated with snail pellets in Perth's southern suburbs.
Western Australian police stated that a 58-year-old worker brought a container of curry to share with colleagues during a morning tea break in February. According to investigators, the food was consumed initially without any reported issues.
Authorities allege that following the morning break, a 43-year-old female colleague accessed a chemical storage shed before entering the staff lunchroom where the food was stored. When the victim returned to finish her meal later at lunchtime, she noticed bright green granules mixed into the dish.
After consuming a small portion of the contaminated meal, the victim experienced numbness in her tongue. Investigators noted that the accused and the victim were involved in a personal relationship.
Detectives arrested the 43-year-old suspect last week. She has been formally charged with one count of committing an unlawful act or omission with intent to harm, which involves endangering the life, health, or safety of another person.
Law enforcement officials declined to release additional details regarding the nature of the workplace or the specific dynamics of the personal relationship between the two individuals. The accused is scheduled to make a court appearance before the Armadale Magistrates Court on November 5.
