Ajmer: A morning walk in Rajasthan's Ajmer turned into an unexpected discovery for one local resident when he spotted an unattended bag lying outside Sophia College. Rather than keeping the valuables or ignoring the find, Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Bhopon Ka Bada, decided to take the bag straight to the Civil Lines police station.

Upon inspecting the bag, officers discovered a passport, important personal documents, and multiple foreign currency notes. The total value of the recovered currency was estimated to be around Rs 9.48 lakh. Utilizing the identification papers found inside, law enforcement officials quickly worked to trace the owner of the lost property.

The investigation revealed that the bag belonged to Saddam Alam, a manager at the State Bank of India in West Bengal, who had traveled to Ajmer to offer prayers at the Ajmer Dargah. According to the details of the incident, Alam was traveling in a tempo after visiting the shrine when his luggage accidentally fell onto the road. He was unaware of where he had misplaced it until local authorities contacted him.

The police subsequently handed the bag, passport, and all of its contents back to the bank manager. The recovered foreign money consisted of three 500-dinar notes, one 200-dinar note, eleven 100-dinar notes, and three 10-dinar notes.

Relieved to recover his essential documents and currency, Alam expressed his gratitude to both the Rajasthan Police and the residents of Ajmer. Meanwhile, Kumar has received widespread praise for his honesty in surrendering the high-value bag to the authorities.
