A notorious social media handle operating under the name Anushi Tiwari Indian has been banned on platform X in India following a comprehensive investigation. The Pakistan-based account circulated inflammatory content, fabricated posts, and repurposed old videos from 2019 during opposition and Congress demonstrations in Delhi.

The deceptive profile had falsely claimed that Delhi Police opened fire on demonstrators, that 13 people were killed during the unrest, and that prominent political figure Rahul Gandhi was injured in the gunfire.

The Delhi Police Cyber Cell subsequently confirmed that the digital footprint and IP address associated with the account traced back to Pakistan. Authorities and intelligence agencies have identified several similar Pakistani propaganda accounts that are expected to face bans as ongoing enforcement actions against cross-border misinformation networks continue.

In a related development regarding demonstrations in the capital, the Supreme Court recently heard petitions challenging the de-notification of Jantar Mantar as a designated protest site. The court examined whether the central government arrived at the relocation decision with proper administrative consideration.

The government defended the shift by submitting that an expert panel had thoroughly reviewed the issue, while petitioners argued that alternative locations such as Burari, Ramleela, and CBD grounds are excessively distant, costly, and feature limited availability. The bench issued formal notices to the Centre and the Delhi administration inquiring about the rationale behind moving the protest site.

Simultaneously, the bench addressed connected petitions regarding alleged unlawful detentions, ordering authorities to preserve relevant CCTV footage and directing the Home Ministry and Delhi Police to place formal prohibitory orders on record. Notice was also issued concerning allegations of violence directed against women journalists and lawyers, with the judges agreeing to consider proposals for establishing an inquiry committee.
