Jio Platforms, the digital and telecom subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has established a price bracket of Rs 1,065 to Rs 1,119 per share for its initial public offering, preparing the ground for what is projected to become the largest public share sale in Indian corporate history. Ahead of the scheduled October 21 opening, unofficial grey market indicators point to robust investor interest.

The massive Rs 30,213-crore public offering will accept bids from October 21 through October 23. Share allotment is anticipated to be finalized on October 26, followed by a provisional market debut on the BSE and the NSE on October 28. The total offering consists of 27 crore fresh shares.

Informal market trackers show that Jio Platforms shares have been drawing a grey market premium of Rs 223 per share. Calculated against the upper limit of the price band at Rs 1,119, this suggests an estimated listing value of Rs 1,342, pointing to a potential gain of nearly 20 percent. Market observers emphasize, however, that grey market premiums operate in an unregulated environment and do not serve as a definitive guarantee of actual listing performance.

Based on the highest price band value, retail investors will need a minimum commitment of Rs 13,428 for a standard lot size of 12 shares. The issue management team includes prominent financial institutions, with Kotak Mahindra Capital functioning as a book-running lead manager and KFin Technologies serving as the registrar for the process.

If successful, the public offering will eclipse Hyundai Motor India's 2024 share sale of Rs 27,870 crore, establishing a new benchmark for issue size in the country. Analysts note that the sheer scale of the offering is expected to draw substantial participation from both institutional and retail segments.

Market experts suggest evaluating the company through a long-term operational lens rather than focusing solely on immediate listing gains. Financial figures indicate that Jio Platforms posted robust revenue and profitability metrics, supported by strong EBITDA margins and significant coverage of India's wireless data market through an expansive base of mobile and broadband subscribers.

A significant portion of the capital raised through the IPO is earmarked for reducing debt at subsidiary Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, a move projected to lower interest expenses and enhance financial flexibility. While growth drivers include expanding 5G adoption, fiber broadband services, and enterprise digital solutions, investors are advised to carefully weigh valuation metrics, regulatory developments, and long-term financial fundamentals before making investment decisions.
