Mahindra has expanded the XUV 3XO range with the introduction of a factory-fitted CNG option, bringing a dual-fuel powertrain to its compact SUV lineup. Prices begin at Rs 9.99 lakh for the entry-level variant, with customer bookings and vehicle deliveries slated to begin on October 20, 2026. The CNG-powered model will be offered across four distinct trim levels.
This new alternative-fuel version broadens the XUV 3XO family, which already features traditional petrol, diesel, and electric variants. It also marks Mahindra's reentry into the passenger vehicle CNG market following the discontinuation of the KUV100 Trip.
The lineup begins with the MX Edge variant priced at Rs 9.99 lakh, followed by the RevX Edge (O) at Rs 10.79 lakh, the AX5 at Rs 11.19 lakh, and the top-tier RevX A priced at Rs 12.27 lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom.
Beneath the bonnet, the XUV 3XO CNG utilizes a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder multi-point fuel injection turbo-petrol engine modified to function on both petrol and compressed natural gas. Mahindra states that the unit develops an output of 111 horsepower and 200 Newton-metres of torque regardless of the active fuel mode, aided by recalibrated turbocharging and updated engine control unit mapping to preserve driving performance.
The powerplant works exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. The manufacturer reports a fuel economy rating of 24.7 kilometres per kilogram, though real-world figures will vary based on traffic conditions and driving style. Additionally, the system features an automatic switchover function that transitions to petrol when the CNG reservoir nears depletion.
Unlike traditional single-tank CNG installations that severely limit cargo utility, this model employs a dual-cylinder storage configuration housed underneath the floor. This layout enables the vehicle to preserve a stated 270 litres of boot space, while the spare tire is mounted externally beneath the vehicle chassis.
The CNG derivative shares its exterior styling and interior architecture with the standard XUV 3XO models. A distinctive ZNG badge on the rear tailgate sets it apart from standard petrol and diesel iterations. Equipment levels align closely with the chosen trim, incorporating features such as 16-inch alloy wheels, a body-coloured front grille, LED projector headlamps, signature daytime running lights, and connected LED tail-lamps. The instrumentation panel also includes dedicated fuel-level readouts for both the petrol and CNG tanks.
In the domestic marketplace, the newly introduced SUV competes directly against established alternatives like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza S-CNG and the Tata Nexon iCNG. The Brezza CNG typically retails between Rs 9.4 lakh and Rs 11.6 lakh, whereas the Nexon CNG spans a wider bracket from Rs 8.35 lakh to Rs 13.42 lakh.
Through its combination of a turbocharged engine, a six-speed manual gearbox, and practical dual-cylinder packaging, the XUV 3XO CNG provides a fresh alternative for consumers seeking a factory-fitted CNG compact SUV.
