Workday has announced a series of new artificial intelligence tools geared toward human resources, finance, and IT during its Workday Rising 2026 event. The updates feature specialized AI agents built to execute business operations, a redesigned employee experience powered by Sana, advanced analytics for workforce planning and financial management, and an agreement to purchase agentic identity management platform C1.ai.

The enterprise software provider is simultaneously broadening its AI partnerships with Anthropic and other technology leaders, integrating Workday features directly into applications like Claude, Google Cloud's Gemini Enterprise, Microsoft Copilot, Microsoft Teams, and Slack. According to the enterprise, this strategy intends to streamline workflows by allowing staff members to access Workday functionalities inside their regular daily applications without needing to toggle between multiple windows.

To overhaul the everyday user experience, Workday is implementing Sana as its primary home screen, enabling workers to issue requests using natural language and complete operations via AI agents. For example, Sana Concierge is capable of managing standard human resources and IT inquiries, including setting up new hires or executing password resets, bypassing the traditional support ticket process entirely.

Additionally, the company rolled out Autopilot Agents designed to manage duties spanning recruitment, payroll, accounting, and regulatory compliance. These agents operate in the background to detect potential discrepancies, recommend solutions, and execute tasks within boundaries defined by the enterprise. The goal is to minimize repetitive administrative work while preserving human oversight for complex decisions requiring specialized judgment.

Workday has further opened its architecture to organizations wishing to develop proprietary AI agents. The Trusted Agent Platform now features headless access capabilities, permitting external agents to leverage Workday functions independently of the conventional graphical user interface. The firm emphasizes that these external agents remain bound by the identical permission structures, authorization workflows, and auditing frameworks applied to native utilities.

On the planning front, Workday Decision Intelligence has rolled out across the entire portfolio, assisting human resources and finance departments in utilizing internal data to evaluate recruitment strategies, pinpoint skill deficiencies, and investigate financial variations prior to executive action. Companion tool Work Intelligence helps corporations dissect job roles into distinct responsibilities to determine which duties are best suited for automation, AI assistance, or human execution, utilizing the Workday Skills Cloud database.

Furthermore, the platform introduced Candidate Profile to simplify employment applications by allowing job seekers to save and reuse their credentials across multiple corporate listings utilizing Workday, addressing high rates of applicant drop-off.

In corporate development, Workday has entered into a definitive pact to absorb C1.ai, a security and identity management system that assists enterprises in regulating access permissions for personnel and automated agents across corporate environments. The transaction is projected to finalize during the fourth quarter of Workday's fiscal year 2027, concluding on January 31, 2027, pending standard regulatory approvals.
