Newdelhi,Oct 14, 2026 14:58 ISTThe Congress party pressed Union Home Minister Amit Shah for explicit data regarding infiltrators allegedly identified, erased from voter databases, and deported after the implementation of the Special Intensive Revision. The political confrontation heightened ongoing anxieties concerning the deletion of names from electoral lists and the protection of voting rights.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh criticized the architects of the Special Intensive Revision, alleging they used the pretext of unauthorized immigrants to distract the public from the disenfranchisement of nearly 14 crore citizens. Ramesh issued a statement online questioning the narrative put forward by the central leadership and demanding transparent answers from the Home Ministry.
Ramesh directed three direct inquiries toward Shah, asking how many infiltrators had been tracked down, removed from the rolls, and physically sent back. The Congress leadership emphasized that roughly 100 crore individuals underwent the verification process and are entitled to know the tangible outcomes of the administrative exercise.
The opposition representative questioned whether the administration was implying that the 14 crore individuals missing from rolls were themselves unauthorized entrants, or if national security had deteriorated under the current leadership to allow a massive surge in illegal border crossings.
These statements followed recent remarks by Shah, who dismissed opposition demonstrations and warned opposition leaders to brace for another significant defeat in upcoming general elections. Shah defended the voter roll revision and accused political rivals of attempting to secure voting registration for undocumented immigrants.
While the ruling administration insisted that the public backs their governance and recognizes opposition tactics, the Congress party maintains that the electoral revision has wrongfully stripped millions of their constitutional franchise under the guise of security operations.
