Members of the National Youth Congress and affiliated student groups addressed a press conference to denounce what they described as severe police brutality during a peaceful demonstration in Connaught Place. Protesters outlined accounts of unlawful detentions, physical assaults, and harassment by law enforcement personnel during and after the demonstration.
During the briefing, a content creator identified as Amit stated that peaceful demonstrators were rounded up by police officers, who subsequently seized their mobile phones or wiped data from the devices. The allegations highlighted a systematic attempt to suppress documentation of the events.
Female student activists belonging to the National Students' Union of India shared accounts of physical abuse while in custody. They accused a female constable and other security personnel of dragging, scratching, kicking, and striking them inside detention transport vehicles as well as within the premises of the Connaught Place police station.
Adira, a Delhi University activist originally from Kerala, recounted suffering significant injuries after allegedly being beaten in a restricted area during the custody period. The testimonies point to mounting tensions regarding the handling of student demonstrations by local law enforcement authorities.
