New Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has officially launched the updated Glanza in the Indian market, with introductory prices spanning from Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 10.49 lakh on an ex-showroom basis. The revised premium hatchback is offered across five distinct trim levels designated as E, S, G, V, and V (O). Alongside targeted exterior styling updates, the refreshed model adopts a new three-cylinder petrol engine, enhanced comfort amenities, and a comprehensive Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems safety package.
The updated hatchback continues to share its underlying platform with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, competing in the domestic market against rivals such as the Hyundai i20, Hyundai i20 N Line, and Tata Altroz. While Toyota has outlined the starting figures across the five available grades, comprehensive pricing for every individual variant has yet to be fully released.
The most substantial mechanical update involves the adoption of Maruti Suzuki's Z12E 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated motor, which succeeds the previous four-cylinder configuration. This powerplant is compatible with both standard petrol and compressed natural gas configurations. Operating on petrol, the motor generates 83 horsepower and 112 Nm of torque, and can be paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or a five-speed automated manual transmission. Although the new motor produces slightly lower peak power and torque than its predecessor, the manufacturer highlights gains in fuel economy, aided further by a standard idle start-stop mechanism. In CNG configuration, the output is rated at 70 horsepower and 102 Nm of torque, and for the first time, this alternative-fuel setup is offered with both manual and automated manual gearbox choices.
Exterior modifications are centered primarily on the front fascia. The vehicle incorporates an expanded grille featuring satin-finish accents alongside redesigned LED fog lamps. The prominent Toyota emblem has been shifted downward onto the trim piece beneath the bonnet, making room for a newly integrated radar module required by the driver-assistance technology. While the primary headlamp architecture remains consistent, the exterior now features a shark-fin antenna alongside two freshly introduced paint choices named Digital Teal Green and Bluish Black.
The silhouette of the vehicle remains largely intact, retaining familiar elements like 16-inch alloy wheels, chrome door handles, and bright window-line trim. At the rear, the design preserves the wraparound LED tail lamps, roof-mounted spoiler, and rear wiper-washer assembly without major deviations.
Inside the cabin, the core dashboard architecture is preserved, though enhanced with fresh upholstery materials and upgraded tech. Occupants in the front row now benefit from ventilated seating, while a wireless charging pad equipped with a dedicated cooling vent increases day-to-day usability. Audio output is managed by an upgraded Clarion system comprising four speakers and a pair of tweeters.
Introduction of the Level 2 ADAS suite marks a major safety enhancement for the hatchback line, complemented by the inclusion of a direct tyre-pressure monitoring system. These additions build upon existing standard safety provisions, which include six airbags, a 360-degree camera arrangement, hill-hold assist, and ISOFIX child safety seat anchors. Other carried-over amenities comprise a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a monochrome head-up display, conventional instrument gauges paired with a coloured multi-information screen, and automatic climate control featuring rear-seat air vents.
Through this mid-lifecycle refresh, the manufacturer aims to elevate the vehicle's technological offerings and operational efficiency rather than radically alter its fundamental design. The transition to a three-cylinder architecture prioritizes reduced fuel expenditure, while comfort additions and modern safety tech seek to maintain the Glanza's appeal in the competitive premium hatchback segment.
