The Los Angeles Police Department has conducted a new search in connection with the disappearance of Christina Downer nearly a year after she went missing. Downer, who is 38 years old, is the sister of Saturday Night Live writer Jimmy Fowlie and was last heard from in December 2025. Investigators noted she was last seen in the Koreatown neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Shortly after Downer vanished, Fowlie utilized social media to appeal for public assistance in locating her. Expressing concern for her safety, he shared an update noting that she might go by her maiden name, Christina Fowlie, in addition to her married name, Downer. Several SNL cast members, including Bowen Yang, Chloe Fineman, and Sarah Sherman, helped amplify the message by reposting the appeal.

Months later, in April, Fowlie stated that LAPD investigators had informed his family that the missing person case had shifted into a homicide investigation and that his sister was no longer alive. He shared that the family's prayers for her safe return had turned toward seeking truth and accountability for those responsible.

However, LAPD officials subsequently disputed that characterization. In a statement to media outlets, department representatives clarified that the Robbery-Homicide Division remained actively investigating the disappearance. They emphasized that while the circumstances were considered suspicious, Downer had not been found and the case had not officially been reclassified as a homicide, though detectives would continue working toward a resolution.

Fowlie previously expressed suspicions that his sister's phone and social media profiles may have been compromised in the weeks leading up to her disappearance. He stated that unauthorized individuals appeared to have used her device to request money and manufacture a false narrative that she intended to disconnect from society. He shared these details in the belief that parties responsible were attempting to erase her presence, while hoping that someone with knowledge of the events would come forward.

Providing a fresh update, LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman confirmed that detectives from the Robbery-Homicide Division, aided by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel, carried out a search at an Airbnb located in Joshua Tree. Authorities have not disclosed what prompted the specific search, whether any physical evidence was recovered, or what current conclusions have been reached regarding Downer's status.

Authorities continue to ask anyone possessing information regarding Downer's whereabouts or the circumstances of her disappearance to contact the LAPD Missing Persons Unit. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through regional crime stoppers organizations.
