The Delhi Police has issued an open letter to the public amid escalating tensions surrounding a planned demonstration by the Cockroach Janata Party at Jantar Mantar on October 10. The letter stresses that safeguarding citizen safety is a core duty, while reminding the public that law enforcement officers are individuals with families and loved ones. The communication emphasizes that the only distinction between officers and civilians is the uniform they wear, not their shared humanity.

The message comes as authorities deny permission for the CJP demonstration, which has called for the resignation of the chief election commissioner and is expected to attract a large crowd. Meanwhile, political developments continue alongside the security preparations, with opposition leaders scheduling a meeting with the president regarding leadership demands.

To manage potential disruptions, approximately 26,000 security personnel from central forces have been deployed across the capital. The extensive security measures include proposed restrictions and closures at 57 metro stations, train service adjustments, heightened checks, and the temporary closure of retail liquor outlets. These sweeping precautions have led some observers to characterize the conditions as a partial lockdown, though officials have not implemented a blanket shutdown of the city.

Educational institutions have also adjusted their schedules in response to the anticipated transport disruptions and security protocols. Several schools and colleges have transitioned classes to online formats, postponed examinations, or rescheduled parent-teacher meetings and sports activities to ensure student safety.

Despite the heavy police presence and preventative measures, event organizers remain resolute. The founder of the movement asserted that intimidation tactics would fail, alleging that supporters and volunteers have faced detentions across various locations.
