The assembly by-poll results across two key constituencies in Tamil Nadu have delivered a sweep for the TVK, which won both Dharapuram and Madurantakam, seats previously held by the AIADMK. Supporters and party leaders launched widespread celebrations following the election outcome, calling the mandate a triumph of people power over electoral corruption and financial influence.
The analysis points to the declining ground presence of the AIADMK, noting its finish in third place in Dharapuram. While the DMK campaigned against anti-incumbency, its narrative failed to secure the seats, prompting allegations from the party of voter list manipulation against the Election Commission. Additionally, an independent candidate in Madurantakam alleged electronic voting machine malfunctions during the counting process.
The election campaign in both segments successfully countered anti-incumbency narratives, highlighting changing political dynamics in the state. Meanwhile, key opposition leadership condemned the election outcome, alleging betrayal and describing the campaign push as a desperate political manoeuvre as party rivalries intensified across Tamil Nadu.
