Delhi: The Delhi Police has officially rejected permission for a demonstration planned by the Cockroach Janata Party at Jantar Mantar, citing a failure to comply with the mandatory ten-day notice requirement and pressing law and order concerns. Joint Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad explained that the notification was submitted on exceptionally short notice, directly violating established administrative guidelines.
In the wake of the denial, extensive security measures and preventive restrictions have been enforced throughout Central Delhi, where Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita remains active. Authorities have ordered the closure of fifty-seven metro stations, cancelled multiple Delhi-bound train services from their originating locations, and deployed two hundred companies of the Central Armed Police Forces alongside Rapid Action Force units and anti-riot vehicles.
Local businesses in Central Delhi, such as restaurants and liquor establishments, may also face mandated shutdowns to preempt potential public disruptions. Additionally, law enforcement officials have issued public advisories urging residents, particularly youngsters and devotees, to steer clear of unlawful gatherings.
