The Delhi Police has formally rejected permission for a demonstration planned by the Cockroach Janata Party at Jantar Mantar on October 10. Law enforcement officials pointed to a failure to adhere to the mandatory ten-day notice protocol, alongside broader law and order considerations.
Joint Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad explained that the organizers provided intimation on short notice, which directly violated established administrative guidelines. In anticipation of potential unrest, extensive security arrangements and preventative restrictions have been rolled out throughout Central Delhi, where Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita remains active.
As part of the heavy security posture, the police administration has requested the temporary closure of 57 metro stations. Authorities have also cancelled multiple Delhi-bound train services from their originating points and deployed 200 companies of the Central Armed Police Forces, supplemented by Rapid Action Force units and specialized anti-riot vehicles.
To further pre-empt public disruption, businesses in Central Delhi, including restaurants and liquor shops, face potential temporary closures. Meanwhile, law enforcement has issued public appeals urging local residents, particularly young people and devotees, to refrain from joining unlawful assemblies.
