Following recent teasers, iQOO has officially confirmed that its next major flagship device, the iQOO 16, is scheduled to launch in India. The announcement was delivered during the Snapdragon event at the Indian Mobile Congress 2026, where iQOO CEO Nipun Marya presented the new smartphone to the public.

Although an exact release date has not yet been specified, the iQOO 16 is set to rank among the initial wave of smartphones in the country equipped with Qualcomm's high-end Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. Upon its commercial release, the handset will compete directly against upcoming premium alternatives like the Motorola Signature 27 and Xiaomi 18 Pro.

In terms of aesthetics, the iQOO 16 introduces a revised look featuring a squircle-shaped camera island with individual rings housing each sensor. It will be offered in three distinct color options known as Chasing Lights, Legend, and Racing Track. The Chasing Lights option incorporates a dynamic three-dimensional lighting effect that alternates between red holographic patterns and blue illumination depending on the viewing angle and movement.

Performance is driven by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, which has reportedly recorded over 5.5 million points on AnTuTu benchmarks, representing a major leap over the previous generation's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. This hardware is supported by LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, and an auxiliary Q4 gaming chip designed to optimize heavy multitasking and gaming sessions. Visuals are managed by a 6.85-inch Samsung M16 AMOLED display featuring a 2K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate.

Energy capacity receives a substantial boost with an 8,400mAh battery housed inside the chassis. The device supports 100W wired fast charging alongside 40W wireless charging capabilities. Photography hardware consists of a triple rear camera configuration containing a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens providing 3x optical zoom, while a 32-megapixel front-facing camera handles selfies and video calls. The phone ships with OriginOS 7 based on Android 17.

Pricing and market availability details remain subject to final confirmation. Given rising global component costs, the device is expected to carry a premium price tag similar to its Chinese market debut, which started around Rs 85,000 to Rs 86,000 for the entry-level configuration.
