Seoul has recalled its top diplomat from Ukraine following a diplomatic dispute triggered by the public disclosure of North Korean prisoners of war. The tension began when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky revealed last month that two North Korean POWs had successfully defected to South Korea.
In response to the announcement, South Korean officials accused the Ukrainian leadership of breaching a confidentiality agreement regarding the sensitive defections. The recall of the ambassador highlights the growing friction between the two nations over how to handle sensitive intelligence and defectors from the isolated northern regime.
