A planned television series continuation of the hit 2018 movie Crazy Rich Asians is set to reunite original lead actors Constance Wu and Henry Golding, alongside fellow returning cast members Michelle Yeoh and Ronny Chieng. The upcoming show will pick up the narrative following the events of the feature film.
Reflecting on the project, Henry Golding noted that the original movie completely transformed his life, describing the cast and creative team as the funniest and most inventive individuals he has ever worked with. He added that bringing the ensemble back together feels like returning home, noting that the cast has since achieved massive success as movie stars, superheroes, arena performers, and even Academy Award winners.
Showrunner Lim stated that the writers room is currently operating at a high level and that the team is eager to share their progress with audiences. Co-produced by HBO and Warner Bros Television, the series is scheduled to begin active production next year.
Casey Bloys, co-chair and chief content officer of Skydance Direct-To-Consumer, praised the core group as global superstars and highlighted that enthusiastic fans of both the blockbuster film and the best-selling book series are eager for more content.
