The Ministry of External Affairs has responded to recent comments by US Vice President JD Vance regarding H-1B visa holders and foreign tech professionals, describing the use of terminology carrying painful colonial connotations as deeply offensive and unwarranted.

The ministry emphasized that generations of immigrants, particularly skilled Indian professionals, have contributed significantly to the economic growth, enterprise, and innovation of the United States.

Addressing the US Department of Labor's suspension of the Permanent Labor Certification program for certain companies, the official spokesperson clarified that PERM is distinct from the H-1B visa framework.

While existing H-1B visa statuses remain unaffected, potential impacts on green card processing were noted, alongside the mutual value of bilateral talent mobility.
