In a sharp attack on Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray demanded accountability over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of voter lists. Speaking during the India Today Conclave Mumbai, he raised concerns over the exercise, particularly in Mumbai, and alleged that genuine voters who had participated in elections between 2002 and 2026 had found their names missing from the draft electoral rolls.

While acknowledging that a properly conducted audit could help eliminate duplicate and fraudulent entries, he alleged that the process was being carried out under political pressure. Thackeray called for a transparent and impartial revision, criticising the centralisation of powers and the sidelining of local Electoral Registration Officers.
