Mumbai, Actor-couple Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal revealed that the title of their upcoming movie "Tu Hai Meri Kiran" originated from an informal discussion with friends and fittingly reflects the narrative's central themes of unrequited love, obsession, and the fine line separating reality from fantasy.

Appearing at Whistling Woods International's annual cinema festival titled "Celebrate Cinema '26" to promote the project, the pair shared that the name crystallized after a friend proposed it over dinner while they were discussing the upcoming venture.

Iqbal explained that he had struggled to summarize the plot in a single sentence, prompting him to narrate the entire story to the group so they could understand the concept. At the conclusion of the story, a friend suggested naming the project "Tu Hai Meri Kiran," an idea that immediately resonated with him.

After checking on the availability of the title, Iqbal contacted the producer, who initially doubted it would be open, but they successfully secured the name. Sinha noted that the suggestion felt appropriate immediately, expressing gratitude to their friend Swati for the idea.

She explained that while they had a working title previously, adopting this name fostered a deeper connection to the project and provided strong recall value that naturally conveyed the storyline. The title references the famous phrase associated with a song from Yash Chopra's 1993 classic "Darr," featuring Shah Rukh Khan as an intensely fixated lover and Juhi Chawla as Kiran.

Helmed by director Karan Rawal, the psychological thriller centers on characters Kiran and Samar, whose bond darkens as a unique connection escalates into total obsession. According to the synopsis, Samar's affection shifts beyond healthy boundaries, placing Kiran in a troubling dynamic where warmth transforms into intimidation and dominance.

Discussing his preparation, Iqbal praised Rawal for providing the cast adequate time to test various performance styles through preparatory workshops prior to principal photography. He mentioned that they tried multiple interpretations, filmed rehearsal sequences, and evaluated the recordings to pinpoint the most effective direction.

Backed by producer Vishal Rana via Echelon Productions, "Tu Hai Meri Kiran" is slated to hit cinemas on October 23. Focused on the topic "Impact of Big Screen Cinema," the two-day festival features industry professionals, performers, and directors engaging in panels, screenings, and workshops.
