A string of violent killings in Punjab has raised serious questions over the state's law and order situation under the Bhagwant Mann government. In Tarn Taran district, Ashwini Kumar, a sarpanch associated with the Aam Aadmi Party, was shot dead in broad daylight while traveling to a local market in an Innova, an incident that was captured on CCTV.

Three unidentified men on a motorcycle opened indiscriminate fire during the attack, severely injuring the victim's assistant as well. This targeted murder occurred just days after former sarpanch Navtej Singh was shot dead in Maneval Village and social media influencer Mad Sandhu was killed in Amritsar.

In addition to local political figures, several law enforcement personnel have been targeted across the state in recent months, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Harjit Singh. The growing frequency of these violent incidents has drawn intense scrutiny regarding public safety and the effectiveness of security measures throughout Punjab.
