Yorkshire has been placed under an official drought status following a prolonged spell of dry weather that severely depleted local water resources. Officials confirmed the decision after analyzing rainfall data spanning the spring and summer months.
According to the Environment Agency, the region recorded its fifth driest period in history between the months of April and September. The compounding lack of significant rainfall over these six months triggered the threshold required for the drought declaration, raising concerns among agricultural and environmental managers throughout the area.
