The popular digital comic franchise The Remarried Empress is expanding its royal universe with a confirmed anime adaptation slated for release in 2027. The news follows heavy anticipation for an upcoming live-action television series featuring a star-studded cast including Shin Mina, Ju Ji Hoon, Lee Jong Suk, and Lee Se Young. The original webtoon has accumulated more than 630 million views in Japan and nearly three billion globally. The anime announcement was officially made during The Crunchyroll Showcase at New York Comic Con.

Authored by Alphatart, the narrative centers on Navier, Empress of the Eastern Kingdom, whose marriage disintegrates when Emperor Sovieshu becomes infatuated with a runaway slave named Rashta. When Sovieshu pushes for a divorce, Navier accepts under a single condition: that she be allowed to wed Heinrey, the Crown Prince of the Western Kingdom. This pivot transforms a devastating betrayal into a journey of ambition, political strategy, and empowerment as she takes control of her own destiny.

The upcoming live-action K-drama adaptation is positioned as Disney Plus's most expensive Korean production to date. Directed by Cho Suwon, known for Still 17 and Pinocchio, the series was written by Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choongyeol. Production utilized actual European palaces alongside elaborate built sets to capture the grandeur of the fictional realms. The drama is scheduled to debut on November 4, launching with four episodes before releasing two new episodes weekly until the finale on November 25. Prior to its streaming release, the show will hold a world premiere screening of three episodes within the On Screen section of the 31st Busan International Film Festival.

Meanwhile, the 2027 television anime adaptation has revealed its primary voice cast, featuring Yoko Hikasa as Navier, Ryohei Kimura as Heinrey, Tomoaki Maeno as Emperor Sovieshu, and Reina Ueda as Rashta. Alongside the premiere window, producers released a promotional teaser video and character artwork highlighting the main cast. As detailed by Yen Press, the core plot follows the breakdown of Navier and Sovieshu's seemingly unbreakable union following the emperor's chance encounter in the forest, leading to Navier's decisive retaliation through her condition for a new marriage.
