The political opposition in Goa is taking to the streets to ramp up its ground force ahead of next year's electoral test, a milestone that will mark 15 years since the party last held power in the state. A 27-day padayatra is currently making its way across all 40 assembly constituencies, generating significant momentum and a narrative of rising public participation despite encountering occasional hurdles regarding official permissions.
The march has drawn high-profile solidarity, including support from leaders such as Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The unfolding campaign has also sparked a political war of words between the major rivals in the state.
The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has dismissed the turnout, alleging that the gatherings consist of paid crowds. Meanwhile, an enthused Congress leadership maintains that the initiative is receiving a tremendous grassroots response, fueling optimism within the party as it looks toward the treasury benches.
