New Delhi: Left-wing organisations, including the RWPI and KYS, staged demonstrations along Raisina Road in New Delhi to demand the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner over the Special Intensive Revision process. The agitations proceeded despite the denotification of Jantar Mantar as an official protest venue.
Security arrangements across central Delhi were heavily reinforced. Delhi Police and paramilitary forces established extensive barricades and deployed anti-riot units to prevent demonstrators from advancing toward key government zones. Several participants were detained at the scene and transferred to detention centres in waiting buses.
Simultaneously, tensions flared outside the Mandir Marg police post, where Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke was produced before a magistrate. Dipke had been taken into preventive custody ahead of a planned rally for allegedly violating peace bond conditions and disturbing public order, following similar actions against co-conveners Saurabh Das and Ashutosh Ranka.
A confrontation erupted outside the post after law enforcement restricted the number of advocates permitted entry to represent Dipke. The restriction led to physical scuffles as lawyers attempted to breach the security barricades, prompting the deployment of Rapid Action Force personnel to manage the escalating crowd and prevent further public order disruptions.
