Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s new period action drama Ranabaali launched at the box office with a worldwide gross of Rs 16.50 crore on Friday, October 16, trailing the opening numbers of the actor's previous major films Kingdom and Liger. The total global collection combined numbers from both domestic and international territories.

Data from the trade tracking website Sacnilk indicates that Ranabaali brought in Rs 9.25 crore in net domestic collections across India on its first day, pushing its domestic gross to Rs 10.75 crore. International markets added another Rs 5.75 crore to the opening tally. Exhibited across 2,515 shows nationwide, the movie maintained an overall audience occupancy rate of 57 percent, drawing a total of 711,679 viewers for its premiere day.

The Telugu 2D version of the feature achieved an overall occupancy of 54.70 percent on opening day. Audience turnout peaked during night screenings at 67.92 percent, preceded by afternoon slots at 56.31 percent, evening shows at 51.77 percent, and morning slots at 40.92 percent.

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, Ranabaali is situated against the historical backdrop of the Great Madras Famine spanning 1876 to 1878, focusing on local resistance against British colonial authorities. Vijay Deverakonda stars as Singanamala Bobbili Ranabaali, a figure who stands up to the administration during a period of widespread hardship, alongside Rashmika Mandanna as his wife, Jayamma. The narrative addresses how colonial policies intensified the famine while following the protagonist's journey as a local protector. The movie's performance over its initial weekend will play a critical role in establishing its long-term box office trajectory.

In comparison to prior releases, Ranabaali opened lower than both Kingdom and Liger. Kingdom achieved a domestic net collection of Rs 18 crore in India on day one across 4,236 shows, nearly doubling Ranabaali's domestic net earnings. Liger, despite facing commercial underperformance, secured a net opening of Rs 16 crore in India with a global day-one gross of Rs 24.20 crore.

Ranabaali represents the third creative partnership between Vijay Deverakonda and director Rahul Sankrityan, following their prior work on Taxiwaala and Shyam Singha Roy. The project also brings together Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna for the third time following Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade, marking their first joint screen appearance since their marriage in February.

Backed by producers Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, the film features a musical score by Ajay-Atul, with cinematography managed by Nirav Shah and Jishnu Bhattacharjee.
