New Delhi: Superstar Rajinikanth spent an hour talking about the film Dorothy with director Karthik Subbaraj and actors Rishikanth and Sananth, praising the project in such depth that the filmmaker was left on cloud nine. For Subbaraj, who has long expressed his deep admiration for the veteran actor, the extensive appreciation was particularly meaningful. The director later shared photographs from their meeting alongside Rajinikanth’s enthusiastic reaction to the picture.

Subbaraj conveyed the superstar's sentiments online, quoting his glowing remarks and noting that they discussed every single element of the movie. The filmmaker highlighted a specific compliment that particularly resonated with him, where Rajinikanth expressed that this was precisely the kind of work he had been anticipating from the director, adding that he could not ask for anything more.

Sananth, who portrayed the character Anwar in Rajinikanth's earlier film Petta, also shared the superstar's personal feedback regarding his performance in Dorothy. The actor noted that Rajinikanth lauded his demanding role and predicted that he would secure an award for his work, expressing astonishment at the transformation from his previous performances.

Both Sananth and Rishikanth, who stars alongside him as friends in Dorothy, share a history of working with Rajinikanth, with Rishikanth having previously appeared in Coolie. Written and directed by Subbaraj, Dorothy features Keerthy Suresh alongside Sananth and Rishikanth, following characters whose perspectives shift after being challenged by the title figure amid themes of toxic masculinity, caste prejudice, and violence.

The feature has drawn considerable appreciation from prominent industry personalities including Dhanush, Suriya, Mani Ratnam, and Upendra. Additionally, the project marks a historic milestone for veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja, serving as his 1,540th film as a music director, with production handled by Jyoti Deshpande, Guneet Monga Kapoor, and Achin Jain.
