The parents of Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reforms (CJP) convenor Abhijeet Dipke have accused the government of undermining democracy, questioning the massive deployment of security forces during a recent student agitation in the national capital. The remarks came as Delhi Police launched a sweeping crackdown, detaining Abhijeet Dipke, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, and nearly 500 protesters to prevent a planned gathering at Jantar Mantar.
Speaking to reporters, Abhijeet's father, Bhagwan Dipke, expressed bewilderment over the heavy-handed security response. He questioned whether criminals from Chambal had arrived in Delhi, suggesting that the true wrongdoers were sitting in Parliament. Addressing criticisms that the protest lacked official permission, he argued that every Indian citizen possesses a fundamental right to protest and questioned why authorities would ever grant permission for a demonstration intended to expose them.
Bhagwan Dipke voiced total support for his son's actions, comparing him to historical figures like Chandra Shekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh. Abhijeet Dipke was among several individuals, alongside Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, who faced detention immediately upon landing at the Delhi airport ahead of the planned stir against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Abhijeet's mother, Anita Dipke, also strongly condemned the government's actions. She argued that detaining individuals right off an airplane was unjustified and questioned why law enforcement agencies fail to show similar urgency when dealing with rapists.
Delhi Police executed the widespread detentions across the New Delhi district to foil the proposed agitation. Authorities utilized aerial drones to monitor public movement and prevent crowds from assembling at the designated protest venue.
