OnePlus is reportedly developing its next performance-oriented smartphone, the OnePlus Ace 7, which industry leaks suggest will cater heavily to mobile gamers. Although the brand has not officially announced the handset, tipsters in China have revealed schematics pointing to a major design shift, including an active cooling system built right into the body. Following the company's established release patterns, the device is expected to debut in global markets, including India, under the OnePlus 'R' series moniker as the OnePlus 16R.
The most notable hardware rumor surrounding the OnePlus Ace 7 involves its built-in active cooling fan, a feature typically restricted to specialized gaming phones. Schematic diagrams circulated on Weibo suggest the device utilizes a dual-airflow system designed to manage heat during prolonged gaming sessions. The layout allegedly pulls cool air down while exhausting hot air through the sides, keeping warm air away from the user's fingers. Additionally, the phone is rumored to include AI-driven temperature monitoring and noise reduction technologies to keep the internal fan quiet and prevent dust buildup.
Performance-wise, the device is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, paired with up to 16GB of RAM according to early benchmark listings. It is tipped to operate on ColorOS 17 based on Android 17 upon release. Visuals are expected to be handled by a 6.78-inch flat LTPS OLED display boasting a 1.5K resolution and a high 185Hz refresh rate, aimed at delivering smooth motion and responsive touch controls for competitive titles.
Despite its heavy focus on gaming performance, the smartphone reportedly includes a robust camera configuration. Rumors point to a 200-megapixel primary rear sensor accompanied by a 50-megapixel secondary lens, alongside a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. To support these power-intensive specifications, the handset is rumored to house a massive 9,000mAh battery supported by rapid wired charging speeds ranging between 100W and 120W.
The OnePlus Ace 7 is anticipated to launch first in China, with an initial rollout expected late in the fourth quarter. If the manufacturer follows its usual product cycle, Indian consumers can expect the device to arrive locally as the OnePlus 16R toward the end of 2026 or early 2027. Early price estimates indicate the model could target the premium performance category, potentially launching between Rs 70,000 and Rs 75,000 in India.
