New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University has dismissed Professor Angomcha Bimol Akoijam with immediate effect following an inquiry into allegations of sexual harassment.
Akoijam previously served as a professor at the Centre for the Study of Social Systems within the university’s School of Social Sciences.
According to an official university order dated October 9, the institution's Internal Committee conducted an inquiry into the matter and recommended a major punishment.
The university stated that the decision to dismiss him was reached after adhering to due process, reviewing the available facts, and thoroughly considering the committee’s report. The termination order was signed by JNU Vice-Chancellor Santishree D. Pandit.
