Rampur: A 30-year-old man was shot dead outside his car wash shop in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district on Saturday, with CCTV footage showing two men dragging him out of the establishment before fatally shooting him. Law enforcement officials are probing a possible marriage-related dispute after the victim’s father accused his son’s in-laws of orchestrating the murder.

The victim, Navjot Singh, was talking to an individual at his business when the attackers arrived in a vehicle. Security camera footage captures the car stopping outside the premises, after which two individuals with their faces concealed by traditional cloth wraps emerge from the vehicle.

The suspects pull Navjot outside while he tries to resist, causing his turban to dislodge in the process. The footage then shows the perpetrators pushing him and opening fire, killing him on the spot before escaping in their car.

Additional Superintendent of Police Anurag Singh confirmed that two men shot Navjot at his shop and noted that an investigation into the motive behind the homicide is actively underway. Investigators reported that four rounds were discharged into Navjot’s chest, and his remains were transported for a post-mortem examination.

A potential marriage-related dispute has surfaced as a primary focus in the inquiry. Navjot’s father has directly blamed his son’s wife’s family for the crime, pointing in his complaint to Navjot's marriage to a woman older than him.

Preliminary details indicate that the woman was previously widowed and has two children, and that Navjot had married her approximately a decade ago. Authorities are currently pursuing the suspects, reviewing the allegations, and have registered a formal case as the probe continues.
