An IndiGo commercial flight traveling from Delhi to Chennai was forced to divert to Hyderabad after smoke was detected originating from a passenger's personal electronic device. IndiGo flight 6E 6115, which took off on October 11, 2026, experienced the in-flight incident when cabin crew members noticed smoke coming from the customer-owned gadget.

According to the airline, the flight crew responded swiftly to contain the situation and brought it entirely under control. The aircraft subsequently landed safely at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, where ground teams immediately began preparing an alternate airplane to transport the passengers onward to Chennai.

In an official statement, IndiGo expressed regret for the disruption experienced by travelers during the unexpected event. The carrier noted that it made every effort to reduce inconvenience by distributing refreshments and providing regular updates throughout the unscheduled stop.
