Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke shared an emotional photograph of his late grandmother on Instagram featuring the caption "I am sorry," following her death while he was held in police detention. Savitribai Dipke, his paternal grandmother, passed away at the family home in Santuk Pimpri village, Maharashtra, after dealing with age-related health issues for more than a month.

Hours after his release from detention, CJP co-convener Ashutosh Ranka stated that Dipke's grandmother died while the political figure was detained, while also criticizing authorities for insensitivity when delivering the news. Ranka confirmed that Dipke departed for his ancestral village immediately following his release to attend the final rites.

In response, Delhi Police released a statement on social media emphasizing that the news of the family death was communicated to Dipke promptly and with proper sensitivity. Authorities added that he was briefed on the funeral schedule and offered travel assistance on humanitarian grounds, though he chose not to utilize the offered help.

The development unfolded as demonstrations organized by the CJP entered their second day under tight security measures in the capital. Protesters have been rallying to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over disputed irregularities linked to the Special Intensive Revision exercise.
