The Supreme Court has issued contempt notices to the Union Home Secretary, the Delhi Police Chief, and the Delhi Metro Chief in connection with widespread detentions, road closures, metro halts, canceled trains, and a lack of proper traffic advisories across the national capital.

During the proceedings, the bench heard a habeas corpus plea alongside contempt allegations concerning approximately 7,000 preemptive detentions carried out under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita. The court directed the top officials to submit compliance affidavits by October 13, while stopping short of mandating their personal appearance.

In its directives, the bench ordered that normal metro, train, and internet services must operate without any hindrance. Furthermore, authorities were instructed to review existing barricades and immediately remove restriction signboards posted outside the court premises.
