Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 11, 2026 15:22 IST — The Bharatiya Janata Party announced that it would scale up its demonstrations both inside and outside the Kerala Assembly, demanding the resignation of key leaders over the ongoing CMRL payments controversy as lawmakers prepared for the session to commence on Monday.

During a press briefing, BJP state general secretary S Suresh highlighted that a recent Kerala High Court directive ordering a case against prominent political figures, based on an Enforcement Directorate report, has created a major political controversy ahead of the legislative meetings.

The High Court instructed the state administration to register a case stemming from an ED report submitted to local police, which implicates senior figures and family members in financial transactions linked to Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited. Federal investigators alleged that CMRL transferred substantial sums amounting to Rs 2.78 crore to a technology firm under the guise of consultancy services.

Citing the judicial directive, Suresh argued that the ruling severely undermines the moral standing of the leadership to remain in office. He accused top officials of shielding one another and stated that the party intends to mount a vigorous challenge during the Assembly proceedings, spearheaded by its three legislators.

Alongside legislative opposition, the party plans street demonstrations, including a march toward the Assembly complex featuring slogans demanding resignations. Leadership figures such as the state party president and respective lawmakers are scheduled to address the gathering.

Beyond the primary financial dispute, the opposition party also criticized local administrative actions involving municipal figures and announced a series of upcoming district-level meetings, youth marches, and public gatherings across the state to protest alleged corruption and broader administrative misgovernance through the end of October.
