New York: India has strongly criticized Pakistan at the United Nations, accusing Islamabad of misusing the global body's platform to spread misinformation concerning the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir while alleging that Pakistani security forces and their proxies have harmed innocent civilians.

Lok Sabha MP Mahima Kumari Mewar delivered India's right of reply during a session of the Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly. She stated that it was regrettable that Pakistan continued to exploit the United Nations to circulate falsehoods about the region. She added that in recent months, Pakistani armed forces and affiliated groups had targeted civilians who were peacefully protesting for fundamental rights and basic necessities.

During her address, Mewar launched a broad critique of Pakistan's governance record, pointing to military dictatorships, manipulated elections, the imprisonment of popular elected leaders, religious extremism, and the use of terrorism as an instrument of state policy. She urged Islamabad to refrain from lecturing the international community on these matters and reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir remains an integral and inalienable part of India. Mewar was participating in the sessions as part of a visiting delegation of Indian parliamentarians on a UN familiarization trip.

Earlier in the week, New Delhi further exposed Pakistan's stance at the UN by declaring that Islamabad had lost control of the militant infrastructure it helped create. Speaking in the Sixth Committee of the UN General Assembly during a discussion on measures to eliminate international terrorism, Raghoo Puri, first secretary in India's Permanent Mission to the UN, noted that Pakistan frequently portrays itself as a frontline state and a victim of terrorism.

Puri stated that this narrative conceals the reality that the militant monster cultivated by the Pakistani state has ultimately turned inward, causing devastation both within Pakistan and across neighboring countries.
