Tushar Gandhi, the great-grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, was detained by law enforcement in Mumbai ahead of a planned demonstration. His daughter, Kasturi Gandhi, took to social media to report that her 66-year-old father was followed, taken into custody, and brought to the DN Nagar Police Station located in the Andheri West area.

According to reports, the detention occurred as preparations were underway for a protest at August Kranti Maidan in support of a demonstration organized by the Cockroach Janata Party at Jantar Mantar. Following the police intervention, Kasturi Gandhi shared a text message from her father that briefly stated he needed his medicine brought to him.

In addition to the social media posts, Kasturi Gandhi published an account from a driver who witnessed the event unfold. The driver stated that police officers approached their vehicle unexpectedly near Link Road, calling Tushar Gandhi out of the car before taking him away without providing immediate explanations, while noting that an auto-rickshaw appeared to have been tailing them.
