Hyderabad: A 35-year-old woman was stabbed to death inside a wholesale cloth shop in Hyderabad's Azampura area on Saturday night, with investigators examining whether a breakdown in her relationship with a former store employee triggered the fatal assault.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:40 pm at the Manha Wholesale Cloth Store, situated near Sahifa Masjid in Azampura under the jurisdiction of the Chaderghat police station. The victim, identified as Tahera Bhanu from Chanchalguda, was employed at the establishment when the suspect, Mohd Ibrahim, entered the premises and attacked her with a sharp weapon.

Bhanu was swiftly transported to a hospital following the assault, but medical personnel pronounced her dead upon arrival. The suspect was apprehended at the scene and remains in police custody.

Preliminary statements provided by the accused indicate that he and the victim had maintained a relationship spanning several years. Ibrahim reportedly told authorities that recent distance placed by Bhanu created resentment, leading law enforcement to suspect a relationship fallout as the underlying motive. Officials emphasized that the motive has not yet been definitively established and the investigation is ongoing.

The suspect is married, has two children, and resides in the Moin Bagh neighborhood under the Santoshnagar police station limits.

Following his detention, Ibrahim was transferred to the Malakpet police station as a precautionary measure to guarantee his safety and advance the legal proceedings. Authorities are continuing to look into the precise circumstances of the homicide and verify the nature of the association between the victim and the accused.
