The central government has officially directed the National Investigation Agency to take over the investigation into an alarming cockpit attack involving an Indian pilot. The incident occurred on September 30 aboard FlyDubai Flight 1073, when the Omani first officer allegedly attacked Indian Captain Smit Machchhar in what is being treated as an apparent hijack or intentional crash attempt.
According to details cited in the official government order, Captain Machchhar sustained deep lacerations to his head and hands during the mid-air confrontation. Authorities are examining the circumstances surrounding the violent assault inside the flight deck as the federal agency steps in to lead the ongoing probe.
