Delhi Police have barricaded central Delhi following calls by the CJP to stage demonstrations at Jantar Mantar. Key political figures, including Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, were detained alongside party workers and leaders like MP Dola Sen as they attempted to march towards the protest venue.
Authorities enforced Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, restricting gatherings across the national capital and setting up multiple checkpoints at border regions and key roundabouts, including Connaught Place. Visuals showed extensive deployment of police personnel, continuous patrols by PCR vans, diverted traffic routes, and buses stationed to transport detainees to nearby police stations.
Police confirmed no official permission was granted for any demonstrations, leading to the interception of civilian protesters, CJP members arriving by flights, and opposition leaders throughout the day.
