Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke announced on Tuesday that the political outfit will not organize any protests until the conclusion of Diwali. He also urged his followers to take a break from demonstrations and spend the ongoing festive season with their families and loved ones.
Dipke stated that it was important for CJP supporters, whom he affectionately refers to as cockroaches, to reconnect with family members. He noted that relatives must be deeply concerned following the events of the past few days, which included a police crackdown in Delhi after the CJP and opposition parties called for demonstrations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls.
In a video message, Dipke emphasized that everyone should pause their political activities for a few days to be present with their households. He mentioned that his own parents, along with the families of fellow CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, had been experiencing considerable anxiety.
During the address, Dipke also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of deploying the entire state machinery to keep CJP functionaries behind bars. He praised the resilience of Das and Ranka, highlighting that they displayed remarkable courage and smiles even after their judicial custody was extended following five days in detention.
Ranka and Das were remanded in judicial custody for an additional two days after being produced before a newly appointed special executive magistrate at the Mandir Marg police station in Delhi. The pair had originally been sent to judicial custody after allegedly climbing a locked gate to enter Jantar Mantar, which had been de-notified as a designated protest site a day prior. Alongside other activists, they had waved the national flag and raised slogans against the Chief Election Commissioner before being detained by authorities.
