Indians are showing an unprecedented appetite for Apple products, with recent regulatory filings revealing that the company's annual revenue crossed Rs 1 lakh crore for the first time during the financial year ending March 2026. This milestone was powered by sustained strong demand for flagship devices like the iPhone, arriving even as the market navigates component shortages and shifting economic dynamics.
Regulatory filings with the Registrar of Companies show that Apple's operational revenue in India climbed 31 percent year-on-year to reach Rs 1,03,853 crore for FY26, improving significantly from the Rs 79,060 crore recorded in FY25. Meanwhile, profitability accelerated at an even faster pace, jumping 66 percent to touch Rs 5,311 crore compared to Rs 3,196 crore during the previous fiscal year.
In contrast, primary competitor Samsung registered a slight decline of 1.4 percent in its phone revenues to Rs 81,472 crore during the same period, though Samsung maintains a diverse portfolio spanning televisions and home appliances. Industry-wide data from Counterpoint Research indicates that India's broader smartphone market expanded by 2 percent in volume and 9 percent in value over FY26, while the premium category comprising devices priced above Rs 30,000 grew 12 percent by volume. Apple notably outpaced these metrics, achieving a volume growth rate of 24 percent, up from 11 percent in the preceding fiscal year.
Several strategic factors contributed to Apple's accelerated growth across the country. Aggressive retail expansion has enabled the tech giant to reach beyond major metropolitan areas into Tier 2 cities, bringing physical storefronts closer to a larger pool of prospective buyers.
Additionally, accessible financing structures such as No-Cost EMIs and consumer-friendly loans played a vital role in broadening market accessibility. Strategic partnerships with major financial institutions and fintech platforms have transformed high-end device purchases ranging between Rs 80,000 and Rs 1,30,000 into manageable monthly installments of Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,000, allowing mainstream consumers to enter the Apple ecosystem more easily.
E-commerce channels like Amazon and Flipkart have further supported this upward trajectory by offering aggressive trade-in promotions and exchange bonuses on older devices, effectively lowering the barrier of entry for buyers looking to upgrade to newer iPhone models.
