US Secretary of State Marco Rubio traveled to India for high-level bilateral talks with External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar in Mumbai. The discussions were also attended by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and US Ambassador Sergio Gor, focusing on vital diplomatic matters, strategic cooperation, the Lindsey Graham sanctions act, and fuel imports.

During the meeting, Rubio emphasized India's position as the world's most populous nation and largest democracy, designating it as an essential partner for the United States across commercial, defense, and Quad initiatives. Officials also reported that negotiations regarding an upcoming bilateral trade agreement are nearing their final completion stages.

Following the diplomatic engagements in Mumbai, Rubio's itinerary included a scheduled visit to the Reliance oil refinery in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This segment of the trip highlighted the increasing importance of energy security, the stability of global fuel supplies, and deepening investment ties between the two nations amid broader global market challenges.
