Delhi Police has responded to public backlash after footage circulated online showing security personnel entering a local Durga Puja celebration late at night. The incident occurred on October 17 at the B Block pandal in Chittaranjan Park, where local residents and committee members reported that approximately 20 baton-carrying CRPF personnel arrived around 11:30 pm while worshippers were still gathered.

The unexpected presence of security forces during the festivities triggered immediate protests from the community. The situation drew broader political attention when Aam Aadmi Party leader Saurabh Bharadwaj criticized the authorities on social media and in public statements, accusing law enforcement of intentionally harassing the Bengali community and interfering with religious traditions, including allegations that officers cut off electricity to the venue.

In response to the growing controversy and viral video footage, Delhi Police issued a formal clarification rejecting claims that officers sought to obstruct or undermine the religious festival. According to law enforcement officials, the deployment was strictly intended to ensure compliance with judicial noise pollution guidelines after loud music allegedly continued past legally permitted hours.
