Mumbai: Preliminary findings in the shooting incident targeting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff’s car indicate a potential weapon malfunction, as investigators recovered two full cartridges among seven rounds fired during the attack. The recovered ammunition is of 7.62 mm calibre, alongside five empty shell casings. Police are examining whether a malfunction involving one of the attacker's weapons caused a live cartridge to be ejected, and are also investigating if a Turkish-made Zigana pistol was used in the assault.

The findings emerge as authorities probe the Sunday evening attack on Shroff’s BMW in the Juhu area of Mumbai. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has subsequently claimed responsibility for the shooting and issued fresh threats against individuals associated with actor Salman Khan. The gang's ongoing hostility stems from historical allegations regarding blackbuck hunting in Rajasthan during the late 1990s.

Following a coordinated effort between the Anti-Gangster Task Force of Rajasthan and Kota City Police, acting on inputs from Mumbai Police, three individuals were apprehended in the Railway Colony area of Kota, Rajasthan. The suspects include a 17-year-old and Rehan, both from Haryana, along with Hrithik Kumar from Bihar, who had arrived via the Pune-Jaipur Superfast Express. Two additional people have been detained elsewhere, including one individual near the Maharashtra-Gujarat border. The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken over the attempt-to-murder case, registering charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant arms provisions.

The 36-year-old actor was departing from a football match in Juhu when multiple shots struck his BMW sedan. While Shroff escaped unhurt from the primary gunfire, his driver Firdaus and an autorickshaw driver named Chauhan sustained injuries. Security footage shows one suspect opening fire while another appears to struggle with his weapon, a detail central to the weapon malfunction inquiry. A third suspect waited on a motorcycle, which has since been recovered after being abandoned at Andheri railway station.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the attack, while Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Shroff at his home to offer support, noting that the actor sustained gunpowder burns on his right hand. State leadership has vowed strict action to prevent the resurgence of organized crime in Mumbai as the investigation into the recovered weapons, ammunition, and security footage continues.
