New Delhi: The Supreme Court has granted anticipatory bail to a woman facing allegations in a cheating case, taking into account her cooperation with the investigation.

A bench comprising Justices J.B. Pardiwala and K. Vinod Chandran delivered the ruling in connection with a case registered at the Vasant Kunj North Police Station. The charges against the petitioner, Nidhi Nehra Sharma, fall under Sections 420, 468, 471, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Prosecutors alleged that Sharma and other individuals fraudulently induced a complainant to transfer large sums of money under the guise of settling liabilities for Bulwark Facilities Management Private Limited. The state claimed the funds were diverted for personal use and that the accused presented a fabricated NBCC work order valued at approximately 11 crore rupees for security and housekeeping services.

During the proceedings, advocate Ashwani Dubey, representing the petitioner, emphasized that his client was fully cooperating with the probe.

After evaluating the case details and the submissions made by counsel, the bench concluded that the existing material against the petitioner did not meet the threshold necessary to deny pre-arrest bail. The court ordered that if arrested, Sharma must be released on bail under conditions determined by the investigating officer.

Additionally, the apex court instructed the petitioner to surrender her passport to the police and appear before the jurisdictional court to submit fresh bail bonds for the trial. The bench warned that any failure to comply with these directions would allow the state to seek a cancellation of the bail.
