A 30-foot cockroach effigy is joining Ravan, Meghnad and Kumbhkaran at a Ramlila event in Delhi’s Pitampura this year.
The committee organizing the event stated that the giant insect symbolises filth and negativity, noting that the unusual addition is meant to highlight the importance of cleanliness.
Organizers have also denied any political connection to the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), clarifying that the concept was chosen strictly to drive home a civic message about hygiene and sanitation during the festivities.
