Tensions escalated across New Delhi as INDIA bloc leaders and Congress workers launched a Delhi Chalo march to demand action and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Prominent figures gathered at the Constitution Club on Rafi Marg while thousands of supporters, including Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, assembled near Himachal Bhavan and Mandi House with the intent to march toward the Supreme Court.

The Chief Justice of India, Justice Surya Kant, previously declined a meeting request from Rahul Gandhi, pointing out that multiple petitions addressing the matter are already pending before the apex court. In response to the planned demonstrations, Delhi Police invoked Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita to restrict large gatherings, deploying substantial paramilitary forces including the CRPF and ITBP.

Traffic came to a standstill around Mandi House Circle as demonstrators sat directly on roadways. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs officially de-notified Jantar Mantar as a designated protest venue, leaving no permitted protest sites within the New Delhi district and Lutyens zone, and instead designating Ramlila Maidan, Burari Ground, and Shahdara for future demonstrations.

Opposition figures including Trinamool Congress leaders Mamata Banerjee, Mahua Moitra, and Abhishek Banerjee arrived at the Constitution Club to voice their demands. Demonstrators outside Himachal Bhavan climbed barricades and attempted to push toward the Supreme Court while chanting slogans against the administration and the Chief Election Commissioner.

Congress MP Rajiv Shukla noted that a delegation headed by Rahul Gandhi planned to approach the apex court following instructions from the Chief Justice. Other opposition voices, such as Congress MP Renuka Chowdhury and Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Manoj Jha, criticized the administration for utilizing heavy force and undermining constitutional norms.

Simultaneously, political friction intensified as Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha workers staged a counter-demonstration outside the Congress headquarters. BJP protesters breached police barricades, demanding accountability and the resignation of a Congress parliamentarian following recent controversies involving a party member.
