Newly emerged surveillance footage captures the dramatic moment a Houthi projectile struck a crowded terminal at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The video circulating online shows passengers reacting amid smoke just before a bright orange haze suddenly engulfs the terminal, accompanied by an intense flash and a loud blast that sent people scattering in all directions.
The attack was part of an escalating series of assaults carried out by Houthi rebels targeting civilian infrastructure in the Saudi capital. Following the strikes, India strongly called for an immediate end to the targeting of civilian infrastructure across the region. The violence resulted in 13 deaths, including an Indian national who succumbed to his injuries after being hurt in the Saturday attack. The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and confirmed it was coordinating support to ensure the early repatriation of the mortal remains.
Embassy officials also visited various hospitals where Indian citizens were receiving treatment. According to updates, three injured individuals were stable in intensive care units, two others were admitted to standard wards, and several more had already been discharged. Separate strikes earlier in the week also killed three people, including a national airline pilot identified as Hamoud Ali Alkalthami, and injured individuals of various nationalities.
Flight operations at the Riyadh airport remained suspended following the deadly incident, with the halt continuing until further notice according to sources cited by AFP. The major escalation in fighting and airport targeting also drew international attention, prompting leaders like US President Donald Trump to state that his administration would review the situation before deciding on a potential response to the Houthi actions.
