Festive celebrations across different parts of India have taken a surprisingly unconventional turn this season by incorporating giant cockroach themes into traditional cultural events.

In the capital, a thirty-foot cockroach effigy has been erected to join the traditional effigies of Ravan, Meghnad, and Kumbhkaran during a Ramlila celebration in Pitampura. According to the organizing committee in Delhi, the massive insect symbolises filth and is intended to highlight the importance of public cleanliness.

Meanwhile, in the state of Bihar, the Binodpur area in Katihar has established a cockroach-themed Durga Puja pandal. This temporary shrine features oversized thermocol cockroaches accompanied by artificial spider webs, capturing significant public attention for its unusual aesthetic choice during the festivities.
